At Glenwood School, we are extremely fortunate to have a very strong and close working relationship with the NHS. This is facilitated by our School Nurse and her colleagues who work onsite during the week and play an active role in the annual reviews of those young people who require input from a Health professional.
Health Passports
The Health Passports provided by the NHS are very valuable tools when accessing Health services at a local hospital, clinic or a GP. These are working documents, meaning that they can and should be regularly updated throughout your young person's life so that they have the most up-to-date picture of your young person at that time.
The Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust provides a website for parents/carers of young people with Learning Disabilities with useful information on how to obtain specialist support, how to access hospital services, etc.:
There are a variety of Health passports which can be used to support your young person. These should be completed by the parents / carers but should you require support in completing these, please contact our Front Office who will then direct you to the School Nurse or Class Teacher accordingly. Guidance on Infection Control in Schools
As a school, we follow the Guidance on Infection Control in Schools as outlined by the Public Health Agency. This is what we use to determine when it is safe for your young person to return to school after an infection to prevent further spread. Please refer to this or contact the Front Office for guidance should your young person contract any of the infections outlined in this poster.
